Millcroft builder stairs reaching the 35-year mark
What you notice: The carpet on the main stair is worn through at the nose, the oak handrail has gone orange, and a few painted spindles have started to loosen.
Why it happens here: Millcroft's first homes went up in 1986 around the golf course, and much of the neighbourhood followed through the 1990s. Builder stairs from that period were carpeted spruce with oak rails, now 30 to 40 years old.
How we fix it: Stair recapping replaces the carpet with hardwood caps, and we refinish the rail or swap spindles for a new wood stair railing in the same visit.
Railing does not meet code for a condo or resale
Condo boards and home inspectors flag handrails that miss Section 3.4.6 height and graspability. We supply a COI and code-compliant railing.

Burlington Post-War Homes and 1990s Subdivisions
Aldershot and Roseland have many post-war bungalows and older two-storeys with straight flights, often painted or carpeted. Some need a straight staircase renovation; many are good candidates for recapping.
Millcroft and Tyandaga homes from the 1990s have carpeted builder stairs with oak rails and wood spindles. These are usually recapped and updated with new wood stair railings or iron balusters.
What we usually recommend in Burlington

Andriy Kovalenko supervises every install from tread removal through final trim. A two-person WSIB crew works behind dust barriers with floor protection throughout the home.
