Terms of Service

These terms apply to your use of this website and to staircase work provided by Staircase Renovation Toronto, based in Etobicoke, Toronto, ON. Your signed written quote sets out the specific scope, price and schedule for your project. If anything in your written quote differs from these terms, the written quote applies.

1. Services

Staircase Renovation Toronto provides staircase renovation services in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area, including:

2. Estimates and quotes

In-home estimates are free. After the estimate we send a written quote, usually within 48 hours. Price bands shown on this website are typical ranges for Toronto homes and are not a quote. Your price is the one in your written quote. Vinyl capping may be quoted from photos, and that quote may be adjusted if the stair differs from what the photos showed.

3. Changes and hidden conditions

Some conditions can only be seen once old treads or carpet are removed, such as a cracked stringer or a compromised joist. If we find something that affects the price or scope, we stop, show you, and put any change in writing before continuing. We don't do extra work without your approval.

4. Pricing and payment

All prices are in Canadian dollars and include a two-person WSIB crew, materials, installation, jobsite protection and final cleanup unless the quote says otherwise. We don't bill hourly. Applicable taxes are added as required by law. Deposit and payment terms are set out in your written quote.

5. Scheduling and access

We confirm install dates in writing. You agree to give reasonable access to the stairs and work area, and to let us know about pets, alarm systems or building rules (such as condo elevator bookings) before the work starts. Weather can affect exterior work dates.

6. Cancellations and rescheduling

Please give us at least 48 hours' notice if you need to reschedule an estimate or install. Custom-cut materials, glass panels and special-order products ordered for your project may not be returnable, and the cost of those materials may be payable if you cancel after they're ordered.

7. Written workmanship warranty

Every project includes a written workmanship warranty on all installation labour, issued at the final walkthrough. Products and materials carry their manufacturers' warranties. The warranty doesn't cover damage from misuse, water or flooding, structural movement of the house outside the stair, or work later altered by others.

8. Permits and code

Railings are installed to Ontario Building Code Section 3.4.6 and baluster layouts to the 4-inch sphere rule. Cosmetic renovation doesn't normally need a building permit. If your scope requires one, we tell you at the estimate and the quote explains who is responsible for obtaining it.

9. Limitation of liability

We carry $2M general liability insurance. To the extent permitted by law, Staircase Renovation Toronto is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from the use of this website or our services.

10. Website content

Content on this website, including text, photos and graphics, belongs to Staircase Renovation Toronto. Information on this site is general and isn't a substitute for an in-home assessment of your staircase.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
